Lip Enhancement Tattoo
Lip Enhancement Tattoo is a semi-permanent tattoo for those who want extra colour in your lips or to re define the lip line. A Rotary Machine is used which lightly deposits pigment under the skin. Your tattoo can last 2-3 years but this varies for each person. Skin type, lifestyle and how your own skin regenerates play a big part in this. It is recommended that you come for a yearly touch up to keep your lips looking vibrant and beautiful.
About

Before you come for your appointment
Lip tattooing very often requires multiple sessions, in some cases 3 or 4. I recommend at least 1 touch up appointment 4-6 weeks after your initial treatment and we can see how they go after that. Here is a list of things to not have/take 24 hours prior to your appointment if possible. Alcohol, blood thinners, Fish oil, Anti inflammatory medication, Nurofen, Vitamin C, Coffee, Aspirin, Garlic, Chamomile, Glucosamine, Primrose oil, Ginger, Gingko & Antioxidants. Botox should be avoided for 2 weeks prior. Hormone therapies and medications can affect pigment and cause some sensitivity. If you suffer from coldsores, it is recommended that you get have some cream available should a coldsore start after your treatment or have the over-the-counter pills that stop coldsores (no later than the day of your appointment). You cannot have cosmetic tattooing if under 18 years of age or pregnant. A patch test can be done prior and is recommended, unless waived by client.
What to expect at your appointment
You will be required to complete the client forms, numbing cream is applied which can take 20 minutes to take affect. We will have a full consultation, I will draw and colour in your lips and the treatment isn't started until we are both happy. Something to note, the lips area is very sensitive and some discomfort may be felt even though every effort is made to make you comfortable with the anesthetic. The colour will be much darker than what it will be like once healed, expect your lips to fade 30-50%. I will explain all the aftercare with you before you leave and if you have questions you are welcome to contact me.
About the healing process
Your lips will be visibly swollen for about 2 days. For comfort you may use icepacks and healing time is approximately 1 week. Please no spicy food or hot drinks for the first day, no kissing until they are healed, no makeup, cream or cleaner to touch the lips, no direct water over the tattoo, flaking and dryness only lasts about 4 days - you may keep lips moist with the aftercare cream (or coldsore cream if required). After 4-6 weeks you may notice the colour of your lips darken, this is the true healed colour. There are no guarantees as to how your skin will heal or how the colour will take to your skin although every effort is made to colour match to your liking. You won’t be able to donate blood for 4 months. The day of and for a few days after, the colour will be much darker than what it will be like once healed. Please book your touch up appointment in 4-6 weeks.
